Hawleywood’s Barber Shop

Posted by awstories on October 25, 2006

Welcome to Hawleywood’s–No Broads Allowed! Truly, I felt like I trampled on sacred grounds when I went to do a story about this men’s hangout and barbery. But really, they were all nice guys.
Owner Donnie Hawley is about to open a much larger barber shop in Long Beach and Hawleywood’s may even be the next reality show if the pilot goes well.

Read about Hawley’s barber shop in Costa Mesa in this week’s OCBJ.

Anaheim in Hemispheres Magazine

Posted by awstories on October 6, 2006

I just finished a slew of stories on the city of Anaheim for Hemispheres Magazine, United Airlines inflight magazine.

Check it out here in December!

Anaheim is probably best known as the home to Disneyland, but there’s a lot going on there. The city is revitalizing its entire downtown with new housing, stores, and businesses. It’s part of a national “New Urbanism” trend, or flight from the suburbs back to the cities.

Some of the new projects include A-Town and the Gardenwalk.
